Holiday Wishlist with Odessa!

Odessa Hott’s Artful Holiday Wishlist!

Odessa Hott is a fashion student wrapping up her studies this Spring at Virginia Commonwealth University. With a passion for contemporary art and a keen eye for fashion, Odessa loves accessories that are a little more abstract and can add a narrative aspect to her outfits. Always well styled, we love to see what jewelry Odessa is wearing. During a recent visit, we had a lot of fun looking at pieces by studio artists more on the art jewelry side of Dransfield Jewelers.

Here is Odessa’s wishlist!

  1. Caitie Seller’s Highway Necklace appealed to Odessa’s wanderlust. Inspired by the fluid lines of highways, intersections and urban landscapes, this sterling silver and copper mesh necklace reminded her of travels past.

  2. The combination of materials and kinetic qualities of these chain earrings by Joanna Gollberg make a truly stunning display. Each earring features one bezel set round pink tourmaline measuring 1.5mm and one pentagon-shaped rose-cut pink sapphire. Dangling from the sapphire are five sterling silver chains in graduating lengths and 18k yellow gold solder spots.

  3. With the hopes of brooches making a strong comeback, Odessa was taken with Kathleen Kennedy’s Scribble Dangle Brooch. Continuing with the theme of movement the mark-making and sway of this piece is very enticing.

  4. These Navy Coral earrings by Laura Jaklitsch are the perfect pop of color. Laura uses recycled metals and wood sourced from woodworker cut-offs or purchased cut-offs from companies with legal and responsible forestry policies to maximize sustainability. This pair of oval wood earrings are inlaid with polyurethane in coral red, blue, grey, ice blue, and white with bright finish sterling silver beveled backings.

  5. Rounding this wishlist out is Tangle IV, a single earring made of recycled sterling silver, freshwater pearls, powder coat, found synthetic hair and silk by J. Taran Diamond. Odessa was immediately drawn to Diamond’s work and resonated with the pieces after hearing some of the intent behind the work.

“I’ve been thinking a lot lately about identity as something that isn’t always clear or clean. Often, it’s something complicated, maybe even a bit of a mess. The 𝘛𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 series is meant to reflect that complication. There is nothing to these objects except for the mess, for the entanglement of distinct and contrasting elements.” - J Taran Diamond

We love that Odessa’s picks reflect what she is passionate about.
