Dransfield Jewelers is a custom jeweler located in Richmond, Virginia with more than 30 years of experience and history in the city. Working completely by hand to craft, repair, and design one-of-a-kind pieces, we specialize in engagement jewelry, modern heirlooms, and unique gifts delivered with a personalized and client-centered approach. In addition to our in-house pieces, we also carry a rotating collection of handmade jewelry from locally and nationally recognized designer jewelers for every preference and price point.

OUR STORY
Made in Richmond
Since 1991, Dransfield has provided the Richmond community with high quality, custom, and fine jewelry from our storefront in Shockoe Slip. Founded by Don Dransfield, our store has celebrated over three decades of independent and locally owned business thanks to a wonderfully supportive community, repeat clients, and a highly skilled team of professionals who are passionate about their craft. Although Don has entered his much-deserved retirement, the store continues its legacy of engagement jewelry, modern heirlooms, and one of a kind gifts under new ownership of Don’s apprentices.

Caitie Sellers
Co-Owner, Designer Goldsmith
Caitie Sellers is a jeweler, artist, entrepreneur, and co-owner of Dransfield Jewelers since October 2022 after acting as store manager under Don’s guidance. She is a trained goldsmith with 18 years of experience in the field, beginning in the craft department at VCU. Her award-winning art jewelry and sculpture has been exhibited across the country and internationally.

Maggie Smith
Co-Owner, Curator
Maggie Smith is a curator, artist, community leader, jewelry enthusiast, and co-owner of Dransfield Jewelers since October 2022. She is our curator and inventory specialist, connecting with our neighbors and wider jewelry community to bring us the most exceptional handmade work. You can also find her as the Director of Children’s Programs at CodeVA, a nonprofit she cofounded.

Rose DeRatto
Head Goldsmith
Rose DeRatto is our head goldsmith and jewelry designer, she has been an integral member of the Dransfield workshop since 2013. Rose is a highly experienced bench jeweler with expertise in every aspect of jewelry creation. Her impeccable craftsmanship and high quality standards make her in high demand for everything from design conception to casting, fabricating, setting, and repair.

Mary Beth Beasley
Certified Gemologist
Mary Beth Beasley is a GIA Certified Gemologist and our in-house appraiser. She received her certification from the Gemological Institute of America headquarters in Carlsbad, California in 2003. She is an expert in diamond grading, stone identification, and valuation. You can also find her taking and facilitating drawing classes at the Visual Arts Center.

Our events and rotating exhibitions help spotlight the work of jewelry artists around the country. These limited-time installations are kicked off with an opening reception to celebrate art-led jewelry and welcome our community into our store for something new, exciting and beautiful.
