Frequently Asked Questions

  • Clean as needed with a soft bristle brush and mild dish soap- a toothbrush works great. DO NOT wear your jewelry in the swimming pool- chlorine eats away the metal in your jewelry and can lead to irreparable damage. Bring your jewelry back to us at least once a year for a free cleaning and check-over by one of our jewelers. We will look for any signs of damage, tighten any loose stones, and let you know if it needs any maintenance.

  • Yes, we love to scrub the sparkle back into your diamonds! Before we put your jewelry in the bath we check each stone under the microscope in case anything is loose or in need of repair. We’ll let you know if it’s time for some maintenance. Cleaning and checking is always free and usually just takes a few minutes.

  • Bring it in and we’ll find out! We can test for various metals and check stones under the microscope for quality. We can tell you what the materials are while you wait but you’ll need to schedule an appraisal with our gemologist for detailed testing, identification, and valuation.

GENERAL

REPAIRS

  • If the piece is made out of gold, platinum, or silver, we can almost always fix it! We can’t work on plated or costume jewelry.

  • Yes, we can! We can match all shapes and sizes of small accent stones and we work with stone cutters for custom cuts. We can even have your scratched and chipped stones repolished.

  • All jewelry needs maintenance- especially if you wear it frequently and it gets a lot of contact with hard surfaces. The metal prongs that hold your stones can wear down slowly over time, move, or break after a big shock. The good news is that we can usually restore them to like-new condition. Some types of settings are more prone to stone loss than others and our jewelers can tell you more about that when you come in.

  • Unfortunately, no. We can’t work on anything that is yellow gold plated.

  • We can’t give accurate cost estimates without our jewelers seeing it in person, but we will always give you a detailed breakdown before you leave it with us. If anything changes during the repair process that may require additional services we will let you know.

  • All of our work is done on site by one of our expert goldsmiths with great care and precision on a first come, first served basis. Because of this, please expect two weeks to receive your repair or longer during our busy holiday season.

  • Sometimes we can accommodate rush service for an extra fee. If you have a deadline be sure to let us know when you drop it off and we’ll do our best!

  • We replace batteries and we can adjust watch bands. Additional services should be taken to a watch specialist.

CUSTOM

  • Please reach out at least 6-8 weeks before you want to have your special piece in hand, but earlier is always better. We want to have time to communicate and understand your requests, research solutions, source stones, and make adjustments as needed. Every project is different- let us know your expectations and we will be honest about what is or isn’t possible.

  • We try to aim a little big and we’ll send you home with a temporary ring guard. We will resize any ring we make or sell to fit just right. The first resize is always free and usually completed within 2 business days.

  • Maybe, but usually not. Most pieces of jewelry are made with unidentifiable alloys of gold and constructed with solder, which can all contribute to contamination in the casting process that can lead to imperfections and failures. If it’s important to you we will be honest about the potential outcome so you can make an informed decision. We can always contribute the value of your metal towards your purchase.

  • To the best of our ability! We source all gold, platinum, and silver for our workshop from suppliers that use 100% recycled metals in their manufacturing processes. We patronize diamond suppliers that are guaranteed conflict free and in compliance with responsible sourcing protocols. We can source lab-created, known-origin, recycled, or antique diamonds and gemstones on request.
